President Enrique Peña Nieto will
participate in the Twenty-First Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (cop21) in Paris, France.
More than 150 Heads of State and Government will attend the meeting,
whose results will be critical to the future of the environment. President Peña
Nieto will participate in a high-level meeting to set a price on carbon
emissions and double investment in technological innovation.
Mexico was the first developing country that delivered its commitments
for mitigation and adaptation for the period from 2020 to 2030. Our country voluntarily
pledged to reduce the emission of gases and greenhouse effect gases by 22% and
black carbon emissions by 51%.
The government has implemented effective policies to reduce the risks
associated with climate change, such as hurricanes or severe droughts that
threaten people's lives and the economy of communities.
