President Enrique Peña Nieto presented the “One and a Half Million” Certificate of the Special Certification Program (SCP) of the National Institute for Adult Education (INEA).
The goal for this administration is to present six million basic education certificates to adults who, for a variety of reasons, were unable to accredit their elementary or middle school education.
During this Administration, 60 percent of those who have been certified in the 35-year history of INEA will be certified.
Today, more than 10,000 adults received their basic education certificates. This makes 3.5 million success stories during this administration.
The best way to measure a government’s efforts is through the results seen in the figures, behind which are the success stories of many Mexican families:
“Mexico is not made by a single person or a single government. It is the sum of the success stories of millions of Mexicans who, in their everyday work and what they do every day to achieve personal success, become the country’s success”. EPN
Achievements of Program
- In its first 31 years, from 1981 to 2012, INEA certified 10.2 million people (an average of 329,000 per year).
- Seven out of 10 SCP certificates have been for the beneficiaries of SEDESOL social programs.
- The president congratulated the more than 70,000 volunteers and 9,000 workers who teach what they have learned; who make the transmission of knowledge from INEA a reality.
- So far during this administration, over 800,000 people have received literacy training.
“We are moving forward, and you are part of Mexico’s transformation. Our country is changing, advancing, growing and being transformed thanks to the personal commitment of society as a whole and of millions of Mexicans who are dissatisfied with their current status and are determined to continue to grow and move forward”.
