Aung San Suu Kyi leads the efforts to establish dialogue, cooperation and reconciliation between military and civil society leaders, together with political and economic actors, to achieve peace in this country.

She has been an important voice for human rights and an emblematic defender of the struggle for democratization as a result of which she has received several international awards.

She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991, and appealed to the world’s citizens to, “Use your freedom to promote ours”.
