President Enrique Peña Nieto met today with the advisors of the National Electoral Institute as part of the 26th anniversary of the publication of the Federal Code of Electoral Institutions and Procedures.
The president hailed the successful transition from the Federal Electoral Institute to the INE and the Institute’s skill shown in the June 5 elections, in which 14 Mexican states held state elections.
He also hailed the plurality of opinion of the INE General Council, as well as its commitment to democracy. He welcomed the good relationship and institutional cooperation between the INE and the government.
He also hailed the significant progress there has been in women’s political participation as a result of Political and Electoral Reform and stressed the importance of citizen participation.
