President Enrique Peña Nieto inaugurated the first stage of the Science and Technology Park in the state of Yucatán, which has involved an investment of over one billion pesos.

Within this Park, another three facilities were also inaugurated:

·        The Heuristic Center for Innovation and Technological Development.

·        The Safety and Traceability Laboratory of the Mexican Southeast.

·        The Food Processing Pilot Plant.

The president also enacted the amendments to the Law on Science and Technology, and the Federal Law of Administrative Responsibilities of Public Servants, which had been requested by the scientific community.

In  the first three years of this administration, federal spending on science and technology has exceeded 239 billion pesos.
