President Peña Nieto said that in the current economic environment, the government will have to “tighten its belt,” in other words, do more with less, by investing public resources in substantive issues and what serves Mexicans most.

The Draft Expenditure Budget 2016 will therefore include strict austerity measures; meaning that the directors of government agencies should make savings and invest funds better.

The commitment is to reduce administrative and operational costs, and increase investment in Mexicans’ welfare and progress.
