President Enrique Peña Nieto’s State Visit to the Philippines, the first since 1962, reflects the excellent moment in Mexico-Philippines bilateral relations.
During this state visit prior to the Asia - Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), the following agreements and initiatives were achieved:
• An agreement to avoid double taxation and thereby facilitate trade and financial transactions between the two countries.
• Greater cooperation in tourism in areas such as research, development and education and training and investments in promotional programs.
• In security, best practices and information were exchanged to jointly combat drug trafficking.
The Mexico-Philippines Plan of Action will be established as a roadmap for deepening bilateral relations.
